What a whirlwind of a month January was for us here in Aus. From wild bushfires burning through so much of our bushland, killing our native animals and plants, families losing their loved ones, homes and possessions and, for the luckier ones of us, week on week of breathing the smoke through the air – my city suffering the lowest air quality in the entire world numerous days in a row.

I am becoming increasingly aware of the waste I produce both inside and out of my home. Everything seems to come wrapped up in layers and layers of plastic only to be collected in more plastic and taken to landfill.
I’ve been trying to get back into regular reading. It’s so easy to find other things to do but I notice such a difference in my mental wellbeing if I take time out to read. I guess the silence, the lack of chatter, the absence of technology humming, reading becomes a form of meditation.
I can hear it – the sigh of disappointment as you’ve seen what I’ve delivered as my first shopping haul. But if you’ll stick with me, you’ll see that I’ve picked the easiest, most common, most readily available place to start being finding healthy and useful goodies.
I can’t believe it’s been three weeks since the surgery. This has been such a wild ride especially with a toddler in tow. But now that I am starting to feel like my old self, I thought I’d share with you ten things I’ve learnt in the last three weeks.
